Springfield Twp. to vote on police plan

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP (WTOL) - Springfield Township residents will vote in November on a new police protection plan. The township trustees approved the plan Monday night, August 3.

The 4.5 mill levy would raise enough money to allow the township to contract with the Village of Holland's police department.

Owners of a $100,000 home would pay about $450 more a year in property taxes.

Springfield Township currently gets its police protection from the Lucas County Sheriff's Department. Because of budget cuts, the township would have to pay for those patrols starting January 1.
