Kaptur to highlight vertical growing systems

TOLEDO (WTOL) - Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur joins with local organizations to fight hunger on MOnday, May 18. At the Seagate Food Bank, Congresswoman Kaptur's war against hunger in her district will get a kick-start as she showcases eight community organizations that will use vertical growing systems for fresh produce.

By using a vertical growing system, you can have hundreds of plants in a small area.

This is being done through the Toledo-based Center for Innovative Food Technology, and the idea is this system can efficiently produce fresh, nutritious produce in minimal space with minimal labor.

This is all a way to combat the increasing need people have for food banks and the smaller donations to these food banks. More people can be fed for less money.
