Man to city: At least mow the grass at my wife's cemetery

TOLEDO (WTOL) - Visiting the grave of a loved one is tough enough without having to face a mess.

Gerald Oberski says when he visited his wife's grave on May 2 -- "our 15th wedding anniversary" -- and again on Mother's Day, the lawn still hadn't been mowed.

So, Oberski "brought my own lawn mower and I cut the grass."

He's disgusted -- and angry.

"I think the city should do something about it. They have $6,000 to spray the (Anthony Wayne)Trail for weeds and look at this mess."

Overgrown weeds and grass are not a problem just at Forest but at the other four city cemeteries: Collingwood, Haughton, Maplewood and State Line.

Oberski feels he paid for the lot so should get a little service.

"They sold us these lots with the understanding that the grounds would be taken care of. It's disrespectful not to just me but thousands of other people."
