PB parents weigh in on drug testing student athletes

PERRYSBURG (WTOL) - Student athletes from Perrysburg could be forced to take random drug tests as soon as this Fall.

Parents had a chance to weigh in on the proposed policy Monday night, May 11 the high school.

The school district has the opportunity for a grant to test high school athletes. They wanted to fund the testing of junior high athletes on their own.

When the district invited parents to give input on the proposal, they were surprised to hear the parents who attended not only wanted the drug testing, but wanted it expanded. At least two parents thought any student who drives in the school parking lot should be tested.

Superintendent Tom Hosler said the expansion of the program would not be covered in the grant, but is something they will consider for the future.
