TOLEDO (WTOL) - Between 6,000 and 7,000 people are expected to attend the WTOL/The Blade Job Fair on Friday, so we thought we'd give you a few tips on how to navigate a job fair.

Indeed, Louann Harris teaches workshops on the subject -- and shares a few tips here.

Harris says first impressions are important.

"You might have 2 minutes to be with a prospective employer, and if they look at you in t-shirts and jeans, there's a possibility they won't even want to interview you," Harris said.

Another tip is to take plenty of resumes to hand out to prospective employers and even to those who are also looking for jobs.

Researching target companies is also important, Harris said.

By the way, we have the list of employers attached to this story so you can find who you're interested in, and do your homework.

Harris' final tip for navigating a job fair is to know yourself. You must be able to sell your skills and strengths to potential employers in a matter of minutes.

If all goes well, you'll leave with a few leads.

"Are you gonna walk out with a job?" Harris queried. "Probably not. Are you gonna walk out with possible interviews? Yes. With connections to other things? Yes."
