Construction update: Disalle Bridge work has begun

TOLEDO (WTOL) - People heading south on I-75 toward Wood County should probably plan a little extra travel time over the coming months. O-DOT has started working on the Disalle Bridge over the Maumee River.

The bridge will be down to one lane periodically until July.

Lucas/Wood County

1.  Interstate 75/Central Avenue : Bridge Replacement *Updated*
Lucas County (340-08): Replacement of three bridges at Central Avenue, Douglas Road and Auburn Avenue for the widening of I-475/I-75. The Central Avenue bridge over I-75 is closed to traffic and pedestrians until October 2009.   Intermittent shoulder closures are possible on I-75 in both directions at the Central Avenue bridge.  

On Friday, April 24, at 10pm until Saturday, April 25 at 8am, the right lane of northbound I-75 at Central Avenue will be closed for shoulder repairs.

Through Friday, May 22, the Central Avenue detour will change to Upton Avenue; Monroe Street; Detroit Avenue; Central Avenue to reconstruct Central Avenue, North Cove Boulevard and Jeep Parkway.

The four interchange ramps from Willys Parkway and North Cove Boulevard to I-75 and I-475 are closed until October 2009:

o        The ramp from northbound I-75 to Jeep Parkway/Willys Parkway (Exit 205A) is closed.  Detour: Berdan Avenue (Exit 205B); Jeep Parkway.  
o        The ramp from eastbound I-475 to Jeep Parkway/Willys Parkway (Exit 205A) is closed.  Detour: I-75, Berdan Avenue exit (Exit 205B); Jeep Parkway.  
o        The ramp from Jeep Parkway/Willys Parkway to southbound I-75 is closed.  Detour:  North Cove Boulevard; Central Avenue; Kelly Avenue; eastbound I-475.
o        The ramp from North Cove Boulevard to westbound I-475 is closed.  Detour:  Central Avenue; Upton Avenue.  

Three bridge project complete: October 2010. All work is weather permitting.  

2.  Interstate 475: Utility Bridge Installation
Lucas County:  Construction of a utility bridge west of the Douglas Road bridge in conjunction with the Interstate 475/Interstate 75 bridge replacement project.  Overnight from 11pm until 5:30am, I-475 in this area may be reduced to one lane in both directions.  Additionally, Groveland Road and Langenderfer Drive, just west of Douglas Road, will be reduced to one lane throughout the duration of this project.  Project complete: May 2009.  All work is weather permitting.  

3.  Interstate 475/Douglas Road : Bridge Replacement *MAJOR CLOSURE MAY 1*
Lucas County (340-08): Replacement of three bridges at Douglas Road, Central Avenue and Auburn Avenue for the widening of I-475/I-75. Intermittent shoulder closures are possible on I-475 in both directions at the Douglas Road bridge.  The Douglas Road bridge over I-475 will be closed to traffic and pedestrians on Friday, May 1, through November 2009.   Detour: Monroe Street, Secor Road; Sylvania Avenue.  The ramps to and from I-475 will remain open at this time.    Detour for westbound I-475 traffic to southbound Douglas Road: Secor Road (Exit 17), eastbound Monroe Street to Douglas Road.  

Additionally, from May 1, until November 2009, Langenderfer Drive from Harley Road to Douglas Road and Groveland Road between Harley Road to Douglas Road will be closed.  All work is weather permitting.  

Three bridge project complete: October 2010. All work is weather permitting.  

4. Interstate 75/ Interstate 475: Bridge Deck Repair *Updated*
Lucas and Wood counties (8036-08):
Work on various bridges over I-75 and I-475 in Lucas and Wood Counties will require intermittent lane closures for bridge deck repair. Through Thursday, April 23, nightly from 9pm until 6am, expect intermittent lane restrictions on southbound I-475/US 23 at the Ohio Turnpike and the Maumee River.   Project complete: July 2009.  All work is weather permitting.  

5. Interstate 75/ U.S. Route 6: Joint Repair *Updated*
Lucas and Henry Counties (609-08): Joint repair on I-75 at various locations in Lucas and Wood Counties and on US 6 at various locations in Henry County.  Expect nightly intermittent lane closures on I-75 in both directions for joint repair.  Daytime and evening lanes restrictions are possible on US 6 in Henry County.

Through May, nightly from 7pm until 6am, expect intermittent lane restrictions in both directions of I-75, from Buck Road to Collingwood Avenue in Lucas and Wood Counties.

Through Monday, May 4, expect daytime and evening lane restrictions in both directions on US 6 from the US 6/US 24 bypass to Glenwood Avenue.

On Saturday, April 18, from 6am until 6pm, the ramps from SR 108 to westbound US 6/US 24 and from eastbound US 24/US 24 to SR 108 (Exit 37) will be closed.  Detour: US 6/US 24; Industrial Drive (Exit 38).  

Project complete: July 2009.  All work is weather permitting.  

6.  Interstate 75: Disalle Bridge Pavement Repair *New Today Only*
Lucas County:
Today, from 8am until 4pm, the right and center lanes of southbound I-75, from South Avenue to Miami Street will be closed for pavement repair.  Suggested alternate route: I-475/US 23.  Additionally, the ramp from southbound I-75 to Miami Street (Exit 199B) will be closed.  Ramp Detour: Wales Road (Exit 198); I-75 northbound; Miami Street (SR 65).  All work is weather permitting.

7.  Interstate 280: Veterans' Glass City Skyway Landscape Project  
Lucas County (408-07):   From 7am until 4pm daily, crews will be landscaping along the right shoulders in both directions on I-280 between Navarre Avenue and Manhattan Boulevard.  Project complete:  October 2009.  All work is weather permitting.  

8.  Interstate 280: Veterans' Glass City Skyway Main Span
Lucas County: Through Thursday, April 30, expect the southbound shoulder and left lane on the main span of the Veterans' Glass City Skyway to be closed for pylon maintenance.  All work is weather permitting.  

9.  Interstate 280: Trench Project *Updated*
Lucas County (493-08): Front and Summit streets will be realigned to intersect with the Craig Bridge.  Work includes filling the existing I-280 trench and reconnecting city streets in Toledo.  The Craig Bridge is closed to traffic and pedestrians through December 2009.  Summit Street detour: Summit Street; Galena; Greenbelt Parkway; I-280.  Front Street Detour: Navarre Avenue; I-280.  

North Erie Street between Bush Street and Ash Street is open to two-way traffic.

Through June 2009, Ontario Street and Michigan Street, between Buckeye Street and Ash Street, are closed for structure removal and roadway replacement.  Detour: Buckeye Street; Ash Street; Erie Street; Buffalo Street.  

Through summer 2010, Front Street, between Dearborn Avenue and the ramp to northbound I-280, is restriped for single lane bidirectional traffic.  

Project complete: November 2010.  All work is weather permitting.

10.  US Route 20:  Major Widening  
Wood and Sandusky Counties (167-07):  US 20 is being widened from two lanes to five from Busch Street in Woodville to Bradner Road.  Lane widths in both directions are restricted to 11 feet throughout the construction zone.  One lane will be maintained at all times.  No permitted loads.  Through October 2009, Bradner Road south of US 20 will be closed.  Detour: Pemberville Road. Project complete: November 2009.  All work is weather permitting.  

11. US Route 6:  Berm Operation *Updated*
Wood County:  Through Friday, April 24, weekdays from 8am until 3pm, expect shoulder restrictions between Rudolph Road and the Henry County line for berm work.  Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. All work is weather permitting.  

12. State Route 795:  Bridge Replacement *Updated*
Wood County (8032-08):  Construction of a new bridge and the addition of turn lanes over I-280 at State Route 795.  Through November, the SR 795 bridge over I-280 is closed.  Access to and from northbound and southbound I-280 will remain open.  Detour eastbound SR 795 to northbound I-280:  southbound I-280; Exit 1B (Bahnsen Road); northbound I-280; SR 795 (Exit 2). Detour westbound SR 795 to southbound I-280: northbound I-280; Walbridge Road (Exit 4); southbound I-280; SR 795 (Exit 2).  Project complete: November 2009.  All work is weather permitting.

13.  US Route 24: New Highway Construction  
Henry County (152-08):  Construction of a newly aligned four-lane divided highway is underway, including an interchange at SR 109 and overpass at CR 4A in Henry County.  Construction vehicles will enter and exit using the current US 24, SR 109 and CR 4A. Through October 2009, CR S between CR 7 and CR 8 is closed for construction of the SR 109 interchange. Through June 2009, CR 4A will be closed between CR T and CR S for construction of an overpass.  Project complete: November 2011.  All work is weather permitting.  

14.  US Route 24/US Route 6: Glenwood Overpass Grade Separation
Henry County (66-08): Grade separation over existing four-lane highway at US 6/US 24.  Glenwood Avenue between Devonshire Drive and North Harmony Drive is closed for the duration of the project.  Detour: Woodlawn Avenue; CR 15; Township Road R. Project complete: September 2009.  All work is weather permitting.  

15. State Route 108: Bridge Repair/Resurfacing *NEW*
Henry County (77-09):
Resurfacing and bridge repair on SR 108 in Henry County.  Starting today through June, SR 108 between US 6 and CR R, will be closed for bridge repair.  Detour: US 6/24; SR 109; US 20A.   Project complete: September 2009.  All work is weather permitting.  

16: State Route 108: Sewer Repair
Henry County:  On Monday, April 20 through August, South Perry Street (SR 108) from Maumee Avenue (SR 110) to Barnes Avenue will be closed for sewer work.  Detour: SR 110, SR 109; SR 281.  Contact the City of Napoleon for more information at (419) 592-4010.  All work is weather permitting.

Ottawa/Sandusky/Seneca County

17. US Route 23: Fuel Clean Up *New Saturday Only*
Sandusky County:
 On Saturday, April 18, from 9am until 1pm, expect lane restrictions on northbound US 23, north of Fostoria near Brandeberry Road/Grove Road for fuel clean up.  Traffic will be maintained by flaggers.  All work is weather permitting.

18. State Route 19 and State Route 590: Resurfacing *Updated*
Ottawa County (8021-08):
Resurfacing and pavement repairs on SR 19 and SR 590 in Ottawa County.  Beginning Monday, April 20 through Monday, May 4, SR 590 will be closed from the Sandusky County Line to SR 105.  Local traffic will be maintained.  Detour:  SR 105, SR 51, US 20.  Project complete: July 2009.  All work is weather permitting.  

19. State Route 53: Slope Repair
Sandusky County (8042-08):  The right lane of southbound SR 53 is closed until July for slope repair.  All work is weather permitting.  

20.   State Route 300: Waterline Installation  
Sandusky County:  Through July, expect daytime closures of SR 300 at Meadow Lane in the Village of Gibsonburg for waterline installation.  Detour: SR 600; US 23; US6.  Work is being performed by the Village of Gibsonburg, contact (419) 637-2634 for more information.  All work is weather permitting.  

21.  U.S. Route 224:  Resurfacing & Culvert Replacement *NEW*
Seneca County (90-09): Resurfacing and culvert replacement on US 224 between SR 67 and SR 4 in Seneca County.  On Monday, April 27 through October, expect intermittent lane closures on US 224 between SR 67 and SR 4.  Traffic will be maintained by flaggers.  On Tuesday, April 28 through Thursday April 30, SR 224 between SR 19 and Cooper Road will be closed for culvert replacement.  Detour: SR 19; SR 103; SR 4. Project complete: October 2009.  All work is weather permitting.  

Michigan

22. I-75: Bridge Replacement
Monroe County, Michigan:
Through Saturday, August 1, the Stearns Road bridge over I-75 will be closed for bridge removal.  Detour: M-125, Manhattan Road, Summit Street (M-125/I-75 connector), I-75, Summit Street (Exit 2), Stearns Road.  Two lanes of traffic will maintained in both directions, except during demo and beam placement activities during off-peak hours.  For more information, visit
