Mud Hens special events at opening games

TOLEDO (WTOL) - The

will open the 2009 campaign on Thursday, April 16 vs. the Columbus Clippers at 5:30 p.m.  The Hens will play 10 home games in a 13-day stretch from April 16-28 against all three teams in the IL West division (Columbus, Louisville & Indianapolis).

Thursday, April 16

(Columbus, 1st pitch at 5:30 PM - Gates open at 4:00) - The Mud Hens will host the Columbus Clippers for Opening Day.  5,000 fans will receive a 2009 magnet schedule when they exit the park, courtesy of ABC Warehouse.  The 180th Fighter Wing will perform a flyover at 5:25.  The contest between the Hens and the Clippers can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230 AM and seen live on BCSN.

Friday, April 17

(Columbus, 1st pitch at 5:30 PM - Gates open at 4:00) - The Hens and Clippers square off once again and again, 5,000 fans will receive a 2009 magnet schedule when they exit the park, courtesy of ABC Warehouse.  The Frisch family (Extreme Home Makeover) will deliver the ceremonial first pitch.  Nickelodeon's Diego will make an appearance and will be available on the main concourse behind home plate for photo opportunities during the game. The evening will be capped off with a post-game fireworks display. The contest between the Hens and the Clipper can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230 AM and seen live on BCSN.

Tuesday, April 21

(Indianapolis, 1st Pitch at 6:30 PM - Gates open at 5:30) - The Hens welcome the Indianapolis Indians to town for a two-game series.  The contest can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230 AM.

Wednesday, April 22

(Indianapolis, 1st Pitch at 6:30 PM - Gates open at 5:30) - The Hens take on the Indians for the second game of their series. It is Earth Day at the ballpark and the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a complimentary eo-friendly Mud Hens bag.  The contest between the Hens and the Indians can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230 AM.

Thursday, April 23

(Louisville, 1st pitch at 6:30 PM - Gates open at 5:30) - The Mud Hens will host the Louisville Bats (Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) for the first time this year in a four-game series.  The contest between the Hens and the Bats can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230 AM.

Friday, April 24

(Louisville, 1st pitch at 7:00 PM - Gates open at 6:00) - Toledo and Louisville meet again on College Rivalry Night. The first 1,000 fans will receive either Ohio State (scarlet/gray) or Michigan (maize/blue) pom-poms and fans are encouraged to wear their Wolverine and Buckeye gear for the game.  Prior to the first pitch, the Findlay Oilers basketball team will be recognized for their Division II National Championship. The contest between the Hens and the Bats can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230 AM and seen live on BCSN.

Saturday, April 25

(Louisville, 1st Pitch at 7:00 PM - Gates open at 6:00) - It is another night of college rivalry fun and this time, it is Bowling Green and Toledo. The first 1,000 fans will receive pom-poms and all fans are encouraged to sport their Rockets and Falcons gear. The contest between the Hens and the Bats can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230 AM and seen live on BCSN.

Sunday, April 26

(Louisville, 1st Pitch at 2:00 PM - Gates open at 1:00) - A Sunday tradition is back. Two Mud Hen players will be signing autographs from 1:15-1:45 on the concourse near the Swamp Shop and then after the game, kids get to run the bases. The contest between the Hens and the Bats can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230 AM and seen live on BCSN.

Monday, April 27

(Columbus, 1st Pitch at 6:30 PM - Gates open at 5:30) - Toledo welcomes back the Columbus Clippers (Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians) for a two-game series. The contest between the Hens and the Clippers can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230 AM.

Tuesday, April 28
