(WTOL) - Folks across the internet have been tweeting and twittering about a disturbing webclip of a dog mangling and killing a cat, at the owner's command.

The video shows a small cat being knocked out of a tree and attacked by a Doberman.

"This was a horrific act of cruelty, torturing a cat, and watching it defend itself until it died, and then laughing at the end," said Natasha Bailey, with the Toledo Area Humane Society.

Bailey says the clip is the most important clue investigators have.

"The first thing we have to do is determine if it happened in Lucas County," Bailey said. "If it did, we're probably going to do the investigation on our own."

So they watch the video over and over, looking for landmarks. A second officer is sent to three area orchards searching for the same landmarks.

"There are some electric posts. There's a barn in the back. There's a big truck that drives by a road. So we're going to look for all of those things that we see."

But the investigation will likely reach beyond county lines.

"There's a billboard for that is a sign for Unifruit. We looked it up online and it looks like a Mexican company."

The public is calling for justice in this case.

"This person wanted to be celebrated, they wanted attention, and they're getting it, because we're going to investigate," Bailey said.
