(WTOL) - There is a new way the sheriffs in Wood, Sandusky and Ottawa counties have found to find everyone from traffic violators to felons. No matter the warrant or severity of the crime, the wanted person is in the sights of three sheriffs now.

"Teamwork is what it all comes down to in law enforcement, and we can't let our county boundaries stop us from someone we have a warrant for," said Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn.

Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn says there are currently hundreds of open warrants in wood county alone ranging from petty crimes to felonies and no matter the crime, criminals need to do the time.

"Could be nothing more than traffic violations to failure to pay child support, which we do on a regular basis. But we certainly have felony-level warrants out there for people we're looking for," Wasylyshyn told News 11.

They way it will work is a deputy from one county will ride with the deputy from another county to find people on the list. They'll do it during all times of the day, so anyone with an open warrant will never know when to expect a knock at the door.
