Baring teeth over pit bull controversy

Are pit bulls vicious because of their owners or because of their breed?  People gathered in Sylvania Thursday night to give their opinions.

TOLEDO (WTOL) - Are pit bulls inherently vicious?

One group thinks not and wants to change Ohio laws that say otherwise.

Members of the Ohio Coalition of Dog Advocates met in Sylvania Thursday evening to discuss strategies.

The issue is polarizing.

For example, Lucas County Dog Warden Tom Skeldon says pit bulls are inherently vicious. But, State Representative Barbara Sears has introduced a bill that would strike from Ohio law any such wording.

Also weighing in on this controversy were Jean Keating, Ohio Coalition of Dog Advocates; Dan Grove, dog lover; and Dr. Bob Esplin, veterinarian.
