TOLEDO (WTOL) - On Monday, March 30, Mayor Finkbeiner is expected to hand over a revised budget plan to city council in response to the city's $27.7 million budget deficit. That number was just updated last week because of the high unemployment rate resulting in lack of income tax revenue.
City Council will then look at the mayor's revised budget plan, which is expected to have up to 100 police officers looking for a new job.
In addition to police layoffs, the plan is also expected to include additional revenue enhancements. One option that may end up in the revised plan is raising the monthly refuse collection fee.
Councilman Tom Waniewski hopes it doesn't come to letting officers go and says changes to employee benefits could be the answer.
