Police: We couldn't prevent woman from driving drunk

(WTOL) - Police near Detroit say they warned a woman not to drive just hours before she allegedly caused a crash that killed four teens. They say although they knew Francis Dingle had been drinking when they responded to a domestic violence call hours before the crash, they had no power to take her keys or arrest her.

Now, Dingle is charged with four counts of murder. Police say her blood alcohol content was .23.

Businesses in the community of Roseville are raising money to help pay for the teens' funerals.

"We came out to kind of help our children understand what's going on," said April Rudnik who attended the fundraiser. "You know they've never been affected in this way and we want them to know the importance of not drinking and driving and what can happen."
