NY-based film company plans Cleveland studio

CLEVELAND (AP) - A New York City-based independent film and television production company has a deal to put a film studio at the Cleveland Convention Center.

Nehst Studios and Cleveland on Tuesday are announcing a one-year, rent-free lease with an option to renew. The goal is to create a production studio that would hire workers to staff crews for its various film projects.

Chairman and founder of Nehst Studios Larry Meistrich says he wants to open a studio in Cleveland to take advantage of its central location and low cost.

The Ohio House and Senate have approved competing plans to offer tax credits to attract the film industry.
