SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP (WTOL) - Patrolman Roger Rettig, a 30-year Toledo Police Dept. veteran, was the victim in a crash that happened around 1 a.m. Monday when his truck went off the road, overturned, hit a tree and started on fire.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol tells us Rettig died at the scene. The accident is under investigation.
The accident happened on I-475 at the US-23 split in Sylvania Township.
