Posted: Updated:

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Northwest Ohio has been hit by strong storms. Areas have seen confirmed tornadoes touch down, damaging winds and heavy rains.

The National Weather Service confirms three tornado touchdowns in and around the Defiance area. One funnel touched down five miles west of Sherwood at Jericho Road and US-127.

The second hit at Buck Road and US-127and a third twister struck US-24 and State Route 66.

A barn was blown over two miles northeast of Sherwood. We also found trees and wires down. The storm knocked out power throughout the county.

Delaware Township Fire Department Chief Jeff Adams says the roof was blown off a house near the barn. He says Toledo Edison crews are on their way to help restore power.

In Whitehouse, dark clouds came rolling through around seven o'clock, but it never rained. Winds, did pick up in speed.

The strange weather only lasted about ten minutes, before the sun came back out.

Sunday's rains had drivers along Secor Road between Laskey and Sylvania, in West Toledo, dodging high water. The heavy rain caused one of the curb lanes to flood.

Many drivers drove through and splashed water feet into the air.
