TOLEDO (WTOL) - We're only four days away from the start of the Democratic National Convention.
Some local Democrats are soon heading to Denver to be part of the process. For many of these delegates, it's going to be their first time to a national political event. The excitement level is off the charts for these delegates, knowing they're going to what is considered the "world series" of politics.
Who will receive the presidential nomination is a foregone conclusion. Now it's a matter of formality. Illinois Senator Barack Obama has sewn up the needed amount of delegates to win the nomination.
The national convention will give these local delegates a chance to rub elbows with, not only the movers and shakers on Capitol Hill, but also meet other grass-root Democrats who are coming from all around the country. The big question heading into the convention... Who will Barack Obama choose as his VP running mate?
"I really like Tim Kaine," says local Obama Delegate Gabrielle Seay, "He's the governor of Virginia. He's pro-life... Catholic... Spanish-speaking... strong background on civil rights. He'd be a great addition, but I think it might be Joe Biden."
Another local delegate, David Mann, tells us, "I think Barack Obama earned the right to pick whoever he thinks is going be a leader of this country, someone who's going to help him win."

Gabrielle and David have a blog up and running, to share their convention experience.
