OTTAWA HILLS, Ohio (WTOL) - Leaders in the village of Ottawa Hills will hear what local residents think of the plan to hire sharpshooters to cut down on the deer population.
Ottawa Hills residents say the deer have become more of a nuisance than anything. Some say the deer are damaging their property and causing problems for drivers who sometimes don't see them until it's too late.
Leaders in the village wants to be able to hire sharpshooters to kill up to 50 deer. In order to do that, council must get rid of an ordinance from 1940 that banned firearms from going off in Ottawa Hills.
A public meeting on the deer killing debate is Monday at 7:30 p.m. The meeting has been moved to the gym at Ottawa Hills Elementary School on Indian Road.
