TOLEDO, Ohio (WTOL) - A man riding his bike in the 700 block of Maywood off Stickney near Central in north Toledo who was shot Friday morning has died, Toledo Police detectives say.
Police say 23-year-old Carl Drake was shot in the chest around 10:15 a.m. He died around an hour after being taken to the hospital.
Investigators do not have any suspects and don't know what led to the shooting.
North Toledo neighbors were greeted with police tape and detectives combing the area Friday.
A neighbor who found the body said her kids told her someone had been shot in the street. “ I came outside, and I seen the bike sitting there, the guy was on the ground.”
Detectives worked for hours trying to figure out what led to the violence. They do know several shots were fired as a stray bullet even hit a nearby house.
The Baccus' live across the street from the shooting and have called the neighborhood home for more than 30 years. They say the neighborhood is changing. “It didn't surprise me as much dope... is up and down this street...,” said Foster Baccus.
