TOLEDO, Ohio (WTOL) - Members of the Northwest Ohio Peace Coalition wore robes and masks during a march to the office of Senator George Voinovich.
They called it the March of the Dead as a visual effort to convince those in Washington not to send more troops to Afghanistan.
"What we are trying to say to Senator Voinovich is that you have been voting for both wars.. Stop!" said Steve Miller.
As the president debates sending more troops overseas, protesters had some advice for the commander in chief.
"For President Obama, I would say 'Believe in yourself and your moral responsibility to bring peace to this war," said Paul Helbling.
Disrtict Representative Wesley Fahrbach met the group and says these kind of protests are heard in Washington.
"The senator reviews many of these items and public opinion does have an impact on how he reaches his decisions," said Fahrbach.
Defense Secretary Robert Gates told reporters Thursday that President Obama is still trying to decide how to answer his war commander's request for an additional 40,000 U.S. forces.
The protesters say the United States should think about pulling troops out instead of sending more away. Members of the group want to stress that they do support the men and women who put their lives on the line every day for our country.
