HANCOCK COUNTY, OH (THE COURIER) - A search for a missing Eagle Township man will resume this morning at a small quarry near the man's home.
Sheriff Mike Heldman said Donald E. Elsea, 85, 8616 Hancock County 37 was last seen on a garden tractor by a family member at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
When Elsea did not return authorities were contacted at about 5:45 p.m.
Both the Jenera and Arlington fire departments responded, and members of the Hancock County Sheriff's dive team were summoned a short time later when the tractor was located near a quarry on the Elsea property.
Four divers were in the water for about two hours, Heldman said, before the search was called off at 9:30 p.m., because of darkness and the threat of storms in the area.
A medical helicopter was on standby Thursday night and at one point was used to search surrounding farm fields for Elsea.
The search will resume at 9 a.m. today, according to Heldman.
Anyone who may have seen Elsea on Thursday night is asked to contact the sheriff's office 419-422-2424.
