Woman suffers life-threatening injuries after hitting semi head-on in wrong-way crash

The incident occurred just after 11 p.m. Monday on southbound I-75 just south of Luna Pier Rd.

A Fostoria woman suffered life-threatening injuries after she hit a semi-truck head-on Monday night.

According to Michigan State Police, the incident occurred just after 11 p.m. on southbound I-75, just south of Luna Pier Rd.

After speaking with witnesses, troopers determined the 37-year-old woman was driving north in the southbound lanes of I-75 causing, her to hit a semi head-on. She was transported to an Ohio hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the semi was also injured in the crash, though their injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

Michigan police have not yet confirmed what caused the woman to drive in the opposite direction. The crash is still under investigation.
