TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo Police Department held a city-wide "traffic enforcement blitz" Super Bowl weekend, with a focus on OVIs, speeding and seat belt compliance.
Increased enforcement started Feb. 7, lasting through Feb. 8.
Officers made a total of 72 traffic stops during the "blitz" period, reporting:
- Speed citations: 13
- Seatbelt citations: 1
- Other V.T.O. citations: 6
- Warning for lesser violations (one headlight, etc.): 52
- Miscellaneous arrests: 3
Some portions of the enforcement special were funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through a grant from the Ohio Department of Criminal Justice Services.
The effort was in conjunction with a national traffic safety campaign that encompassed Super Bowl weekend.
