The Perrysburg sewer rehabilitation project and its impact on traffic

What roads will be closed and for how long due to sewer repairs.

PERRYSBURG, Ohio — The Northwestern Water and Sewer District announced an update involving the Perrysburg sewer rehabilitation project.

Southbound West Boundary Street, between Front Street and West Sixth Street, will be reduced to one lane for sewer work. This will start today and go through March, the district announced.

Also starting Today through March, Indiana Avenue between West Boundary Street and North Ridge Drive will be closed for sewer work as well.

The biggest issue may be on W. Boundary Street - it is NOT going to be closed. However, there will be lane restrictions if you’re traveling southbound only.

You are not going to be able to go onto Indiana Avenue if you’re traveling west or coming from the East.

The total time for this project is 3 months. However, the lane restrictions and closures will last two months.

The project will invest around 750 thousand dollars to repair.

This sewer pipe is so large it could pump up to four and a half million gallons of wastewater a day.

You may be wondering what is the big reason for this sewer project?  It is all to repair sewer bypass pumping.

“You can see it’s a need of repair. What happens in a sewer, especially in concrete pipes, they reach a certain age where the gases within the sewer cause some of that concrete to deteriorate over time. And that is the biggest reason why we need to make these repairs. We’re going to be repairing eight manholes that are within the sewer system and that’s gonna take some time and we estimate it to be about two months” said Theresa Pollick, public information officer for Northwestern Water and Sewer District.

The project should be completed in April if weather permits.
