Oak Harbor man dies after colliding with garbage truck

Truck was stopped and collecting trash at the time of the crash.

OAK HARBOR, Ohio — A 71-year-old man died Friday in a crash involving a garbage truck in Ottawa County.

Robert Tarbuskovich, of Oak Harbor, was driving northbound in a 2015 Ford Escape when he collided with the garbage truck on Toussaint Portage Road in Carroll Township. The garbage truck was stopped northbound and collecting trash at the time of the crash.

Tarbuskovich was not wearing a seatbelt and died from his injuries. The driver of the garbage truck, 61-year-old Antonio Guerra, Sr., of Port Clinton, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be involved.
