WEST TOLEDO (WTOL) - Fire crews spent the morning Tuesday, June 9 battling a massive home fire in west Toledo.

It happened in the 1900 block of Mount Vernon. The couple who lives in the home was able to get out. One of the homeowners said she awoke to the fire around 3:30 a.m.

The house was fully engulfed in flames. It is a total loss. Preliminary investigation is that the fire was accidental, possibly electrical. Though fire investigators say the home was so heavily damaged, it may be hard to tell.

What remained of the home has been demolished.
