BOWLING GREEN (WTOL) - A star athlete from BGSU was suspended Wednesday night after being pulled over for drunk driving.
Police say 22-year-old Niki McCoy was picked up just after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of East Court and North Prospect in Bowling Green.
Police pulled her over when she failed to use a turning signal. They found an open bottle of rum in the vehicle. Her blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.
McCoy's arrest came just hours after she helped lead the Lady Falcons to a 76-67 victory over Ball State.
The red shirt junior has been suspended from the team indefinitely.
Coach Curt Miller released a statement saying, "Niki has made a poor decision and now must take responsibility for her actions. Putting on a BGSU women's basketball uniform is a privilege, not a right, and we will make further decisions regarding Niki's future once we have gathered more information."
