News 11's Tanieya Lewis.TOLEDO -- When you go see car races, billboards are plastered from the hoods to the bumpers of the race cars. But do they get your attention? One missing persons group is hoping it will.
NEWS 11's Tanieya Lewis stopped by the Arca Truck Races at the Toledo Speedway Sunday where one of the trucks had decals profiling missing people out of Warren County. The hood of truck seven profiled three missing people. Coincidentally, the case involving two of the three people profiled was solved Monday morning.
Ada Wassan and Mary Walters went missing back in April. They were last seen in a silver Chevy Impala. The car of Ada Wassan was found on a Kentucky farm Monday morning and the remains of both Wassan and Mary Walters were identified by late morning.
The third case profiled on the truck is Brian Shaffer, a 27-year-old student at Ohio State University.
In an interview Sunday, Martin Gray of Missing Childrens Racing Network explained, "Racing has a large audience and a large fan base, and a large media contingency that follows it, so what better way to bring attention for these kids and adults that are missing?"
The combination of entertainment and detective work has had some results. Gray has profiled 130 missing children on race cars, aiding law enforcement in 4 recoveries.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of Brian Shaffer, you're asked to contact the Warren County Sheriff's Department at 513-695-1280.
