Winter Blast slams area; strong winds create blowing, drifting snow

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) – A major winter storm will continue to affect northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan into Wednesday.

The storm brought snow and freezing rain late Tuesday.

Temperatures will be very cold. Wind gusts over 30 mph will create blowing and drifting snow, which will be especially problematic in rural areas.

Here are the latest snow accumulations totals: (Keep in mind, these totals just include snowfall from Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.)

North of Toledo

Areas north of Toledo will see the most accumulation. Southern Michigan counties could see 6 - 10" of additional snow Tuesday into Wednesday.

Greater Toledo area

The amount of sleet and freezing rain mixed in with the snow will affect snow totals. The Toledo area should fall in the 3 -6" range along with some sleet and freezing rain.

South of Toledo

1 - 3" of snow is forecast well south of Toledo due to higher sleet and freezing rain potential. These counties will have more ice and less snow.
