Toledo blood worker's union ends strike with Red Cross

A news release by the American Red Cross Western Lake Erie Region:

June 4, 2010

"The American Red Cross was notified by the UFCW Local 75 that they are prepared to end the strike on Saturday, June 5 at 12:01am.

"We recognize the value of the contributions of Union employees to our mission of ensuring blood is available when and where it is needed. We can now return our full attention to serving donors, sponsors, hospitals and patients.

"The Red Cross will welcome employees back to work based on blood drive scheduling as we phase collections back to full operation.

"We will begin contacting potential donors over the weekend to schedule future appointments to donate. The Toledo Donor Center will be open again on Monday, June 7 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please call 1-800-RED CROSS to schedule your appointment and find additional blood donation opportunities near you.

"The Red Cross appreciates the commitment of our area's blood donors who regularly provide the lifesaving gift of blood. "
