TOLEDO, Ohio (WTOL) - The frustration of unemployment can be felt everywhere in northwest Ohio. That's why WTOL and The Blade are teaming up with The Source to offer Career Camp on Monday, Nov. 9.
The program, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will teach skills to land a job such as essential interview practices, tips to make your resume stand out and workshops on social networking such as Facebook, Linked In and Twitter.
Shamica Hemmons, who plans on attending Career Camp, moved to Toledo from Chicago a year ago and hasn't found a job.
"It's messed up. It's really messed up. You can't even get in a restaurant, and it used to be easy to get in them," said Hemmons.
Marte Sorg from The Source calls Career Camp intensive training for the job search.
"It used to be when you networked, you just called up people you knew and that sort of thing. You tried to get the word out that you're looking for a job. Now, you have literally an unlimited number of people that you can get the word out to," said Sorg.
Career Camp will be held in the DNA Conference Center on the University of Toledo Medical Campus. UTMC is located at 3000 Arlington Ave., between Byrne Road and Detroit Avenue.
Organizers suggest to dress professionally and bring several copies of a resume.
