Issue 8 dividing Springfield Township residents

LUCAS COUNTY (WTOL) - Some employees at the Lucas County Sheriff's office want voters to turn down money for public safety.

They've teamed up with the citizens group The Better Way for Springfield to campaign against Issue 8.

Union members are worried the $2.5 million it raises would fund a deal with the Village of Holland to provide police services instead of the deputies who watch over the community now.

Supporters say a deal with Holland would eventually save homeowners some cash. Others aren't so sure.
