TOLEDO, Ohio (WTOL) - Instead of the trial beginning as scheduled, the case of Michael Swiergosz was continued Monday, Nov.2.
Police say Swiergosz caused two standoffs with law enforcement over domestic disputes with his estranged wife.
The first standoff was at his home and the second was at the Sunset House retirement community near Ottawa Hills, which is where his estranged wife was employed.
If convicted, Swiergosz faces up to 80 years behind bars. Medical experts determined he does not fit the criteria to plead 'not guilty by reason of insanity.'
