TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - A south Toledo family lived through a terrifying ordeal, with guns pointed in their faces inside their own home.

But according to them, when they called for help, a Toledo police sergeant made them feel like the criminals.

Brittany Abraham was home in the 900 block of Walbridge Ave. Wednesday night with her husband Dominic and 2-year-old son. She says two men came their front door, asking to use the phone because of an emergency.

Once inside, they locked the doors, and pulled guns.

"He told us he was going to kill us. I was so afraid. He had a gun pointed at my son and I said 'Can you please not do that?' And then he pointed the gun at my face. And I begged him, 'Can I please put my son in his room? Can I please get my son out of here? I don't want him to see this.'"

Dominic Abraham goes on: "He kept asking me, 'Why should I let you live? Give me reasons I should let you live.'"

For half an hour the family says they sat paralyzed in fear watching as the men stole their car, their television and cash.

When the men finally left the family called police, expecting help.

Instead they were horrified with the way they say one Toledo police sergeant, Daniel Brandon, reacted.

"He called us liars. Told us we were lying about the people who came in, lying about the guns in our face. Then he started calling, saying that my wife was a prostitute," Dominic explains.

"He said there was a bunch of ho activity in my house -- hos coming in and out -- and it's our fault our house got broken into because we have hos coming in and out of our house," Brittany says, saying he was looking right at her the whole time he spoke.

"Why would I lie like that?" she continues. "And he said it was my fault! I have a job, I have a family. I am not a ho! Those were the first words out of his mouth, as soon as he stepped into my house."

The Abrahams filed a formal complaint against Brandon.

Toledo Police Chief Mike Navarre confirms he is under investigation for "improper demeanor."

Surveillance video of Brandon last year shows him threatening to arrest a convenience store clerk if she didn't have sex with him.

Although he was fired for that he is back on the job after arbitration.

News 11 was unable to reach Brandon for comment.

The Abrahams are hopeful he'll lose his job for good.

"He does not need to be a cop! How many other victims has he treated like that?" asks Brittany.
