WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) - Some companies are allowing employees to bring their pets to work in hopes of boosting morale and productivity as the economy continues to slump.
A pet-friendly workplace policy is among the alternative perks being used by some companies that have been forced to cut back on traditional perks, such as day-care services and office parties.
Bath Hallisy of the Marcus Thomas marketing agency in Warrensville Heights says employees' dogs are part of the office's friendly atmosphere.
Pet Sitters International expects about 10,000 companies to embrace its "Take Your Dog to Work Day" in June. About 300 companies participated in the inaugural event in 1999.
