Mud Hens to become Toledo Stingers for Military Appreciation Weekend

The name pays homage to the 180th Fighter Wing, the Toledo-based Ohio Air National Guard

TOLEDO (WTOL) - In honor of Military Appreciation Weekend, you won’t see the Toledo Mud Hens on the field.

Instead, you’ll see the Toledo Stingers, which the Mud Hens will become for two night games at the end of June.

The name pays homage to the 180th Fighter Wing, the Toledo-based Ohio Air National Guard based out of Swanton.

But that’s not the only way the Hens will honor military members that weekend.

All current and former military and service personnel will receive discounted tickets for the games on June 28 and June 29, both 7:05 p.m. starts.

Discounted game tickets, which must be pre-ordered, will be $14 for all military personnel as well as their family and friends.

Tickets could even be free for military families with your help!

You can donate tickets for Stingers Military Appreciation Weekend to allow military families to enjoy one of the weekend games at no charge. Your donation is tax deductible.

The Mud Hens will also auction off their Toledo Stingers jerseys via silent auction on the main concourse during Friday’s game.

Check out a sneak peek of what the jerseys will look like - they’re pretty cool:

Also on Friday, Muddy will become an honorary fighter pilot as the first 1,500 fans will receive a Fighter Jet Muddy Bobblehead when they enter Fifth Third Field.

Or if you don’t want to wait in line for one of these bad boys, you can guarantee that you’ll get one if you buy a premium giveaway package for $10.

But even that’s not all!

Hensville Park will also turn into a family fun theme park that weekend with an inflatable obstacle course, bounce house and games for all ages.

You can also enjoy the Hensville Live! postgame concert and fireworks after each game that weekend.

All of this is free with your Mud Hens game ticket.
