TOLEDO (WTOL) - The Toledo Zoo is bringing the funny this summer with two big-name comedians on their summer ampitheater lineup.

Both Trevor Noah and Jim Gaffigan are scheduled to perform in July 2019.

Noah is no stranger to the spotlight in Toledo. Back in 2017, the Glass City was the butt of one of his jokes during a segment on “The Daily Show” discussing a ballistic missile test by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. At the time, Kim claimed his missiles could reach anywhere on the U.S. mainland. Noah made comments suggesting Toledo would be a good spot for those missiles to land, bringing a mixed response for those of us in northwest Ohio.

You can watch Noah’s comments here at the 3:15 mark.

Noah took over as the face of “The Daily Show” in 2015, after long-time host John Stewart decided to step down.

He began his career in South Africa, and brings many of those experiences into his writing on “The Daily Show” and in his stand-up material. He has released nine comedy albums, including the most recent “Afraid of the Dark” which premiered in 2017 and in 2016 he published his first book, “Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood.” His work on “The Daily Show” won him an Emmy for “Outstanding Short Form Variety Series” in 2017 and an MTV Movie and TV award for Best Host.

Noah is set to perform at the Toledo Zoo as part of his “Loud and Clear” tour on July 19 at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale on Friday, April 19 at 10 a.m. on the Live Nation website.

This is a good show to see if you want to support the Toledo Zoo and catch a powerhouse performer all at the same time.

Gaffigan is also making his way to the 419. Toledo is just one stop in his “Quality Time” tour.

He’s won four Grammy’s for “Best Comedy” album since 2013, including one just this year for his album “Noble Ape."

Fans know him for his light-hearted, family friendly style. Portraying himself as a lazy suburbanite, he takes a dive into his relatable issues with fast food and overeating. Gaffigan’s signature monotone voice is juxtaposed with his high-pitched portrayal of the audience’s subconscious as they digest his comedic confessions.

His material has a little something for everyone, so even if you’ve somehow never heard of this comedy legend, you should go ahead and check him out anyway.

Tickets are already on sale for his July 31 performance. They start at $47.50 a piece. Gaffigan is scheduled to take the stage at 8 p.m.

Also performing this summer at the Toledo Zoo Ampitheater are “Earth Wind and Fire” and “Chicago.” You can check out their schedule and find tickets on the Toledo Zoo website.
