Local grant to fund roof repair for two Tiffin buildings

The Renaissance and Reclaim It buildings will get the funds from the Facade Enhancement Grant to replace their joined roofs.

TIFFIN, OH (WTOL) - In it’s fifth year, a local grant program in Tiffin will help not only make their downtown more beautiful, but help businesses as well.

Two grants of $10,000 have been awarded to adjacent building owners in downtown Tiffin.

The Renaissance and Reclaim It buildings will get the funds from the Facade Enhancement Grant to replace their joined roofs.

The owners said that it is critical to not only afford the renovations, but to also ensure the buildings remain viable for years to come.

“A lot of these old buildings, people can’t afford to put new roofs on, put new windows on, do the masonry work. So, through the grant, we’re able to secure that type of work, and those are the things that keep the buildings here for a long time,” building owner Weston Reinbolt said.

“When you realize the expense of just the windows or just the roof, every little bit helps. but a $10,000 grant makes a great deal of difference,” Karen Klepper with Reclaim It said.

Since it’s inception back in 2014, the Facade Enhance Program has led to 69 projects and $2.3 million in downtown improvements for Tiffin.
