Ex-parks commissioner sentenced to work release

She was accused of stealing between $1,000 and $7,500 while in office. She is also disqualified from working for the state of Ohio.

TOLEDO (WTOL) - The former commissioner of Toledo’s Division of Parks, Recreation and Forestry has been sentenced to work release.

Lisa Ward was charged with felony theft while in office.

According to court documents, the alleged crime happened in June 2017 while she served under the Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson administration.

Ward is accused of stealing between $1,000 and $7,500 while in office.

She plead not guilty to the charge in December.

Ward was charged with 90 days of work release with a restitution amount of $2,000.

She is also disqualified from working for the state of Ohio.
