TOLEDO (WTOL) - A major winter storm will impact the area through the weekend.
First Alert Chief Meteorologist Robert Shiels says the snow will move in before daybreak Saturday and continue through most of the day.
Accumulations will be over 6 inches most locations. Northeast winds gusting to 35 mph will create snowdrifts much higher, possibly making some roads impassible by late afternoon.
Saturday night and Sunday winds will shift to northerly. It will become bitterly cold with subzero wind chills.
Lake-effect snow will add to accumulations mainly east of I-75 and along lakeshore areas.
Temperatures will bottom out below zero Monday morning with highs only in the teens for Martin Luther King Day.
