TOLEDO (WTOL) - When John Presloid isn’t busy answering clues in the Jeopardy! studio, he’s in the lab at the University of Toledo, working as a research assistant, studying Lyme Disease.

Presloid recently won on Wednesday’s episode of the show.

He said he’s been an avid Jeopardy! watcher, pretty much his whole life.

“We watched it every single day and I would keep score, like a dork,” said Presloid.

As soon as he turned 18, Presloid said he began auditioning for the show. Finally, he got a very important call last fall.

“Oh, I lost my mind. I was actually at work. I was busy doing an experiment,” recalled Presloid.

Presloid said as far as preparing for the show, he studied areas he wasn’t fully comfortable with, like fine art. When show time came, Presloid said the staff gave the contestants a practice round, allowing them to get out their jitters and get comfortable answering in the form of a question.

As far as working with Alex Trebek, “He’s really funny. He doesn’t come out until right before taping starts. So you’re dealing with production and he comes on stage and everyone just kinda gets quiet because, 'It’s Alex! It’s Alex!”said Presloid.

Presloid said he’s excited to recall the experience he said went by so fast.

“Going on Jeopardy! was a moon dream for me. So being able to just set foot on stage, felt like an accomplishment.”

After Presloid’s big win on Wednesday, he will be seen yet again on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. on WTOL 11. You can hear more from the winner on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. on WTOL.
