Store swap, 419-style! Appliance Center, Churchill’s Market retailers to trade places in partnership for Food For Thought charity
John Oswald and Walt Churchill will swap places on Monday and Tuesday to promote local businesses and help Food for Thought charity.

TOLEDO (WTOL) - Appliance Center, now open for over 55 years in the local area, and Walt Churchill’s Market, which recently celebrated 100 years of business in Toledo, have teamed up for a charitable event unlike any other.

“It’s a partnership over 55 years in the making,” said John Oswald, president of Appliance Center.

On Monday and Tuesday, John Oswald of Appliance Center, and Walt Churchill of Walt Churchill’s Market are trading places. John will work at Walt Churchill’s Market, and Walt will work at Appliance Center.

“We have sold some pretty crazy stuff at Appliance Center over the years but this will be my first endeavor with groceries and I’m looking forward to it,” said John.

“I have shopped at Appliance Center for many years and I love the people there, I just hope John doesn’t try to get me to jump into any swimming pools like he does in his commercials,” said Walt Churchill.

They are doing this not only to promote local business but also to raise money for a local charity, Food For Thought. Everyone who comes in to see Walt at Appliance Center on Monday from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. or John at Churchill’s on Tuesday from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m., will have the chance to enter drawings for prizes from both stores.

To top it off, Appliance Center and Churchill’s will make a donation to Food For Thought on behalf of everyone who enters the prize drawings.

Food For Thought is a local charity that provides food for those in need, including 400 local families on average every month.

“There’s never been a more important time to buy local, it’s good for all us. This is just a great way for us to have fun and give back to the community that has been so incredibly supportive to both of our companies for many years,” Oswald said.

Customers are encouraged to come out and get some great deals, enter to win prizes, and support charity all at the same time.

Walt Churchill will work at the Appliance Center Illinois Avenue location in Maumee on Monday from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. and John Oswald will be working at Churchills Briarfield location in Maumee on Tuesday from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
