TOLEDO (WTOL) - A Toledo Police officer has been cited after she ran a red light, causing a three-vehicle crash on an intersection straddling west and south Toledo on Sunday afternoon.

Toledo Police citing officer for red-light violation

According to TPD, Officer Nicole Tucker, 31, will be cited for a red-light violation.

TPD officials say that Officer Tucker and her passenger, Officer James Schroeder, were not responding to a call, nor did they have their emergency lights on at the time of the accident. It is not clear why she entered the intersection.

The accident, happened around 3:15 p.m.

A vehicle driven by Kelly Molter, 51, was headed eastbound on Hill when it struck the SUV driven by Officer Tucker, who was headed southbound on Byrne.

Officer Tucker, Officer Schroeder and Molter were all taken to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

TPD says that as of Monday, all three are recovering at home.

A third vehicle was also struck following the initial accident. No injuries have been reported in regards to that vehicle.

Witnesses at the scene originally reported the possibility of another hit-skip vehicle. However, a follow-up investigation has led accident investigators to believe that there was not a fourth vehicle involved.

According to TPD officials, an internal investigation will be conducted into the incident in addition to the issued citation.
