Call 11 for Action: Trash remains on Utah Street despite charges filed

As of Wednesday, the woman who initially reported the problem is pleased, but isn’t completely satisfied.

TOLEDO (WTOL) - Last week WTOL 11′s Call For Action received results on a terrible dumping problem on Utah Street in east Toledo.

As of Wednesday, the woman who initially reported the problem is pleased, but isn’t completely satisfied.

DiDi Fitzgerald was thrilled beyond belief when she learned that a man had been charged for dumping trash on her street. But with that excitement came skepticism, because she wants to ensure the city continues to tackle the problem.

As of Wednesday the trash had not been picked up.

In fact, it had slightly increased in volume.

WTOL 11 placed a call to the city’s code enforcement department about when they expected it to be picked up, but there wasn’t an immediate response.

But regardless, Fitzgerald’s message is simple; she’s happy the message is getting out there, but she doesn’t want the city to let up on this messy situation.

“I would like to see more proactive prevention. Put a big sign up that says the area is under surveillance. Put a camera on the big tree right here so that they can see that it’s under surveillance, and hopefully that will solve the problem," she said.

WTOL 11 is thrilled to help get Fitzgerald results for her and all of the residents on Utah Street.
