TOLEDO (WTOL) - Google is getting into the Christmas spirit and hitting us with some nostalgia with their new commercial, paying homage to the hit movie “Home Alone.”
The video perfectly recreates classic scenes from the movie, with the now “all grown up” Macaulay Culkin.
But this time, he’s not exactly alone. He has the help of the new Google Assistant.
The commercial shows Culkin as his character Kevin McCallister, getting into all of the same shenanigans in the film as an adult.
It starts off with Culkin, as McCallister, waking up in his bed home alone once again, asking his assistant, “What’s on my calendar today?”
To which it replies, “You have one event called, ‘House to yourself.'"
It then goes through some of the classic scenes, only this time, Kevin has the help of Google Assistant. He sets reminders, pays for his pizza and is finally able to eat that “highly nutritious microwavable macaroni and cheese dinner."
Google’s commercial quickly went viral after it was released on Wednesday. Their post on Facebook was shared more than 200,000 times by “Home Alone” fans across the country.
So if you decide to take a leap and buy a Google Assistant this year, make sure to tell the merchant to “keep the change, ya filthy animal.” Just make sure they’ve seen the movie first.
