CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Josh Gordon, the former Cleveland Browns wide receiver, says he needs to focus on his mental health and is stepping away from professional football again.

Gordon, who played for the New England Patriots for the majority of the 2018 NFL season, posted a statement on Twitter Thursday morning.

According to the NFL Network, Gordon is facing an indefinite suspension for violating the conditions of his reinstatement into the league following several past punishments.

At the beginning of the year when Gordon was still with the Browns, he announced that he would not be with the team during training camp so that he can continue to focus on his “overall health and treatment plan.”

The former Pro Bowl athlete later joined the Browns for the first game of the season, but was released and picked up by the Patriots to play in Week 4.
