BOWLING GREEN (WTOL) - The Bowling Green State University Football team celebrated the Christmas season on Sunday.
However, they didn’t celebrate alone. The team was joined by a group of children from the community.
They gathered at the Perry Fieldhouse, where the Falcons helped make the Christmas season just a little more special for kids in need.
The Falcon team went out in the community and raised money for gifts.
Three players were each paired up with one child and bought the presents appearing on their holiday list.
“A bike and new shoes” is what Addison Powell says she received.
“I got a drone," said Galvin Ferguson.
This was all the idea of Falcon long snapper Gabe Skrobot. His high school football team in Zanesville always held a similar giveaway.
Gabe figured why not reach out to his college teammates.
“The BG football team is supported by everyone around BG. It’s a time for our team as a whole to give back to the community,” said Game
The 36 kids were chosen from lists provided by schools and local organizations.
They had a blast.
“It’s absolutely incredible. I’m absolutely a big football fan,” said Ronnie Ewing.
This is the first Christmas With the Falcons’ event, but it won’t be the last.
“I love it. It’s a great experience. Don’t do this often. Once a year for Christmas. I enjoy that,” said player Cameron Stage.
