Three-year-old Malachi Barnes was shot to death on Thanksgiving.

TOLEDO (WTOL) - A 17-year-old teen has been charged in the Thanksgiving shooting death of 3-year-old Malachi Barnes.

The teen is in custody at the Lucas County Juvenile Justice Center.

He pleaded not guilty to complicity to murder on Friday in the Lucas County Juvenile Justice Center.

TPD said they have found probable cause to charge the 17-year-old with murder.

Juvenile Prosecutor Lori Olender said her office will be applying for certification to try the teen as an adult.

On Thanksgiving night, Anthony Barnes, the father of Malachi, was driving northbound on I-75 near Collingwood with his three young children when another car pulled alongside Barnes and sprayed the car with bullets.

Malachi was shot and later died at Mercy St. Vincent’s Hospital.
